Minor Injuries. A Clearer Next Step.
A setback does not have to leave you guessing. Understand your options and discuss a sensible route back towards the activities you value.
Understand What Happened
An injury can happen during sport or an everyday task. Tell us how it happened, when it occurred and what has changed since. Similar symptoms can have different causes; an assessment helps determine whether care here is suitable or whether you need another service.
Early Care And Recovery
The NHS advises protecting a new sprain or strain and avoiding aggravating exercise initially. Recovery varies with the injury. Its guidance below explains early care and when to restart movement. Do not use this page to diagnose an injury or as clearance to resume sport.
What Care May Involve
For a suitable minor musculoskeletal injury, we can discuss activity adjustments, exercise and possible hands-on care. The plan and timing depend on examination findings. Serious trauma, suspected fractures and dislocations need urgent medical care rather than treatment here.
When To Seek Urgent Help
Contact NHS 111 for substantial or worsening pain or swelling, difficulty bearing weight, or symptoms that are not improving. Attend A&E if an injured limb is deformed, numb, tingling, blue or grey, or cold to touch. Read the full NHS guidance below. For sportspeople and athletes
